Annual objectives
In order to evolve its methods, the Company defines new objectives in adequacy with its policy during the annual management review.
1. Safety Policy

Conscious of its responsibilities in the field of safety/security at sea, prevention of human injury or loss of life and avoidance of damage to the environment, in particular the marine environment, and to property, the Company has decided that its safety management objectives are:

- To provide safe practices in ship operations and a safe working environment ;
- To establish safeguards against all identified risks ; and
- To continuously improve safety and security management skills of personnel both ashore and onboard, including the preparation for emergencies related both to safety and environmental protection.

To achieve and maintain the above mentioned objectives, the Company shall provide the necessary resources and qualified personnel, defining its organisation, identifying specific tasks and responsibilities, establishing training requirements and co-ordinating all the tasks , in compliance with:

- Mandatory rules and regulations ; and
- Codes, guidelines and standards recommended by the Organisation, Administrations,
Classification Societies and Maritime Industry Organisation.

However it is understood that on board the Master has the overriding authority to act or give the necessary orders for the protection of human life, for the safety of the ship and for the protection of the environment.

Taking into consideration the Company Quality Policy, the established Safety Management System provides an improvement in efficiency and productivity and a greater confidence on the part of clients and charterers.

Nevertheless if a conflict arises between commercial or economic motives and any point of the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy, the Master shall always decide by giving priority to the latter.

This policy will be reviewed at regular intervals to ensure that it remains relevant and effective.

2. Environmental Policy

We are aware that oil is the most visible contaminant for the sea. For each of our vessels we have developed an Emergency Plan according to the rules and conventions in case of oil spill.
The Company policy is to avoid all possible pollution, such as:

Oil and Chemical products
All the procedures are in place on controlled vessels to avoid any oil or chemical pollution.

Garbage
As described in our Operation Manual, each vessel keeps a garbage register in accordance with the rules of Marpol Annex V.

Sewage
Our company has developed procedures concerning the discharge of sewage in accordance with the regulations. These procedures are described in our operation manual.

Water ballast
Since the company is mainly trading in known areas, ballast water transfer problems are significantly reduced.
Yet, we encourage the masters of our vessels to transfer ballast water in deep sea when they are changing sea zone. However, these exchanges are not without risks, and the final decision on whether to do so must rest with the master, taking into account the prevailing weather, safety, stability and strength of the ship.
Furthermore we stay informed on the progress of ballast water treatment technology.

Anti-Fouling Paint
We are aware of the impact of the paint on the environment and of the fact that no effective totally friendly paint is available.
Our technical department keeps itself informed of the progress of alternative paint technology and considers the use of more friendly paint whenever possible and approved by the management.

Noise
Ear protections are at the crew’s disposal on board each vessel of our company. High level noise areas are clearly identified on board, and crew shall use ear protection within such places.

Atmospheric pollution
Fuel Exhaust Emissions are controlled by engine monitoring, and soot blowing of boilers is done outside port areas. Bunkers used in normal circumstances will be of low sulphur content. A procedure in our operation manual describes the company arrangements taken to reduce atmospheric pollution.
Cargo vapour emissions are controlled by venting through dedicated venting arrangements, and closed loading / discharge is carried out.
Halon is not used.
CFC’s are used within acceptable limits. New apparatus is bought when possible without these gases.

3. Quality Management Policy

The company gives priority to safety, respect of the environment as well as to health, hygiene and to customers satisfaction:

This strategy aims:

- To mobilize energy so that all of the personnel makes a powerful team, for which the responsibilities and authorities are clearly defined and recognised, and to have at their disposal a safe and up to date equipment and a safe working environment.
- To formalize a better understanding of the needs and expectations of our customers (internal and external).

“C.H.S.C.T” Committee makes sure that standard hygiene, safety and work conditions within the Company are in compliance with French regulations including the so called “Document unique”.

Thus, to ensure continuous improvement, we commit ourselves to progress permanently in:

- The quality of the services provided to customers,
- Identification and analysis of risks and emergency situations, and corrective preventive actions decreasing their critical hazards,
- Analysis of our results. Our management system is regularly assessed, and updated with new objectives.

I will support the actions taken according to these objectives with all my authority and I will check that the Management follows the arrangements described in the Manuals.

I will do my utmost to ensure that this policy is understood by all concerned and that it is applied accordingly.

TMSA

The Tanker Management and Self Assessment (TMSA) programme provides ship operators with a means to improve and measure their own management systems. The programme encourages ship operators to assess their safety management systems against listed performance indicators.

The results from these assessments can then be used to develop an improvement plan, using the stages of attainment described in the programme, to achieve safety and environmental excellence.
