WELCOME ON BOARD
On 30 June 2007, the operations to bring together the office based personnel from Puteaux and St Malo to the offices of Fouquet Sacop in Marseille were finalised.
Started around 9 months ago following a decision by Eitzen, shareholder of Fouquet Sacop and Navale Française, to regroup its two French subsidiaries on one single site - Marseille, the operations were carried out according to the planned schedule.
As from 1 July 2007, 4 out of the 6 vessels of the Navale Française fleet have been taken under the management of Fouquet Sacop now in charge of finance, purchases-logistics, technical, security and crewing.
The Gabian would like to welcome these ships, their crews: French, African and Rumanian seamen, and is happy to take them under her wings.
I would especially like to thank the teams of Navale Française and Fouquet Sacop Maritime who have participated in this and for the work carried out over the last few months both on board and in the office, to ensure that this change in course has taken place with as little difficulty as possible in our everyday life.
The 4 ships, of which we now have the responsibility, are excellent vessels, trading in a market which is more competitive that that of Fouquet Sacop and for us this is the beginning of a new adventure.
A warm welcome to everyone, and ‘bon vent’ for the Fouquet Sacop Maritime and Navale Française teams, more traditionally I would like to wish you all a good summer holiday.
Christian Garin,
The Chairman

At long last …

On 12 July 2007, after a long administrative battle linked to the change in status of the building (from housing to offices), the purchase of the office block was finally signed. This building will house the future head office of the group and is situated at the corner of 5 Quai de la Joliette and 112 Boulevard des Dames. Once the works covering the complete reorganisation of the neighbourhood are finished, and the motorway flyover has been demolished, the building will be overlooking the sea.
In 12 months, if building work goes according to plan, the teams in Marseille will be able to move into this 5 storey office block of a surface of approximately 1400M2.
Marina Cahen and Anita Letroteur, in charge of interior design, will present in detail the plans of our new head office.
The Gabian has come full circle and goes back to the Boulevard des Dames.

Talking Points
Southbound experience
SNC, NTV, IP, SMS, NF, all this added together will now give FSM , this is quite a nice equation to be solved . A Chapter covering 17 years in Saint Malo is now closed (from wine tanker to factory trawler via chemical, heavy lift , cement factory and more …) . This ending, although sad, brings me back to 3 years spent with Sud Cargos , and which means that I am not too lost in Marseilles .
A new Chapter is beginning, with a new team, a new challenge, and a new life. By the end everything is new (including the vessels), and I also feel almost brand new and happy to be here (I am already Marseillais, I am already exaggerating!).
Some of you on board know me already, but as soon as my installation is complete I will try to visit the maximum number of vessels and people and build up confidence and a partnership.
I am sorry for the weather during my first days in Marseilles, but I have issued a special DFS “not be to cooked on arrival”, and my supplier has been successful. Last night I felt cold and this after a curious Monday morning which was almost like Brittany. I reassure everyone that I have not requested any extension, as my daughter will not be so happy, and I don’t
want any conflicts with the colleagues.
Thanks to all of you
Philippe THEBAUT,
Technical Dept.
